The Logging Process

The initial stage of logging involves determining the forest area, identifying the tree species present and assessing the age and condition of the trees. The outcome of this stage is the determination of the volume of timber to be harvested versus what must be preserved, along with the creation of a logging plan that takes environmental factors into account. Once the harvesting plan is established, actual logging operations begin—including felling, extraction, and transportation.
It should be noted that upon completion of logging operations, the ecosystem of the area must be restored and monitored.
